Episcopal Peace Fellowship, St. Bart's Chapter

The newly formed chapter
of the Episcopal Peace Fellowship here at St. Bart's will meet from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, in the Vestry Room.

The Episcopal Peace Fellowship is a national organization connecting all who seek a deliberate response to injustice and violence and want to pray, study and take action for justice and peace in our communities, our church, and the world. We are called to do justice, dismantle violence, and strive to be peacemakers.” (quote from the main website here). St. Bart’s has recently initiated a chapter under the direction of Cathy Porter. Plans are being made to sponsor adult educational opportunities on peace and multi-cultural topics.

All are welcome. Questions? Email Cathy Porter.

BOOK STUDY @ St. Bart's

For the summer, the St. Barts Book Group is beginning our first series of "short takes" in which each participant is welcomed to lead a one-week discussion of a work which has powerfully impacted their spirituality.

Each week, we will have the opportunity to discover a different source of spiritual enlightenment and inspiration and learn more about not only that work, but our fellow St Bartians. Every Sunday at 12:30 - 2:00 pm in the Vestry Room. Questions? Email John Wirenius.

MOVIES @ St. Bart's:
ST. BART'S DISCUSSES THE MOVIES
For July the Movie Discussion Group has selected Winter's Bone, Mother and Child and I Am Love, all of which are currently in local movie theaters. We will meet Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 6:30 pm in the Vestry Room. See all three or only one of the movies and join us for conversation.

Make a date with us for discussion on the last Wednesday of each month, at 6:30 pm in the Welcome Center. Each month, we choose several movies, information about which can be found at http://www.imdb.com. See all of the movies, or one or two, and join us for stimulating conversation and insights.

History of The Church (4 Summer Sundays)

Ever wondered about the origin of the filioque clause in the Nicene creed, the reasons for iconoclasm, the politics of the black rubric in the 1552 Prayer Book or even why St Bartholomew's was founded?

John Richards will give an overview of the history of the Church in the Welcome Center beginning at 12:30 pm. Four Sundays: July 18, 25, and August 1 and 8.
