Becoming A Part of St. Bart's
A sense of
belonging is one our most critical needs. We respect the right of
people to enter St. Bartholomew’s at the rate and depth of their
personal comfort, which includes remaining on the sideline. But when
you are ready to learn more and to consider greater connection, we are
ready to welcome you. What is life really like in this big, diverse
place? What do we believe and how do we worship? To explore joining our community, click here.
Cursillo
Cursillo (Spanish for "short course") is a discipleship program designed to help one understand the personal call to the Christian life. Cursillo involves both a 3-day weekend and ongoing small groups for shared prayer, study, and fellowship.
Education For Ministry
Education for Ministry, also known as EFM, is a four-year program of theological education designed to prepare participants for lay ministry. Students meet weekly in a seminar setting under the guidance of trained mentors at various churches throughout the city. For more information, you may contact our EfM mentor at St. Bart’s, Mark D’Alessio, or the Diocesan Coordinator, Rev. Betsy Roadman, phone: 914-271-3501.
The 2007-2008 EFM class are shown here at their end-of-the-year retreat. Shown left-to-right are: Melba Duncan, Elizabeth Lewin, Pearl Chin, Paul Kimmerling, Petero Sabune, Mark D'Alessio, Linda Watt, Blair Jarvis, Leo Duncan. Read a personal reflection on this special weekend.
Benedictine Cells
A one hour group that meets every other Tuesday in the Memorial Chapel for reflection on the rule of St. Benedict and its meaning for our lives. Participants are welcome to come every week, or just one time. All are welcome.
Centering Prayer
Learn one of the great spiritual practices. Centering Prayer is a meditative form of prayer geared toward the cultivation of interior silence or "centering." The Centering Prayer group meets twice weekly to share reflections, study and practice and to support each other in the discipline: Saturdays at 10:45 am. Contact St. Bart's Central for more information: 212-378-0222 or central@stbarts.org.
To sign up for any of the above programs, contact St. Bart's Central at (212) 378-0222 or central@stbarts.org, or the person listed at the end of each entry.
