On Friday, April 28th, Rope (1948), directed by the legendary Alfred Hitchcock, will be screened. James Stewart stars in this
American psychological crime thriller. Rope is notable for its one-take gimmick, the “perfect murder” premise, and very explicit homosexual undertones. Hitchcock often looked at taboo gender and sexuality expressions in his films.

On Friday, May 12th, Beginners (2010), starring Christopher Plummer & Ewan McGregor, a multi-award-winning indie, will be the featured film.  At age of 75, the newly widowed Hal (Plummer) comes out as a gay man and leads an active life, fully embracing his new identity, while diagnosed with cancer. The story is told through the eyes of his son, (McGregor), making it a most unusual and touching film because no other film tells this story from the son’s point of view. Based on a true story, Christopher Plummer won the Oscar, SAG, and numerous other awards for Best Supporting Actor.

Film professor and St. Bart's parishioner Anthony Perrotto hosts a bimonthly film series with an introduction, important insights, and commentary for each screening, all with LGBTQ+ themes.
