Tuesday, January 14, 2020, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Parishioner William Fulton offers another Opera Talk on Tuesday, January 14, from 6:30 to 8 pm, Room 33, on Alban Berg’s Wozzeck. Georg Büchner’s unfinished 1836 drama Woyzeck was far ahead of its time in its social criticism. Berg’s powerful music makes this story of severe exploitation of the underprivileged even more intense in his opera of 1922. We will discuss the play, opera, the Met Opera’s new acclaimed new production with artist William Kentridge, and their religious underpinnings and relevance today. RSVPs are appreciated with the form below. Walk-ins will be warmly welcomed.
