Climate change does not impact all communities equally; often it has a particularly devastating effect on those communities already experiencing disproportionate distress. Yet the people who suffer most from environmental problems don’t always have a meaningful say in constructing solutions to them. Elizabeth Yeampierre, Executive Director of the Brooklyn-based Uprose, talks about her experiences leading a community-based climate justice organization and tells us why it is important that the fight against climate change happen from the ground up.
