Join in extending a radical welcome to all who come to St. Bart's, in-person and online!
St Bart’s Central Volunteer
- Purpose: Provide coverage at St. Bart’s Central and the bookstor
- Perfect for: Those who are outgoing, somewhat tech-savvy, and would like to gain experience in retail and administration.
- Potential opportunities:
- Answer and direct phone calls at the front desk
- Facilitate purchases at the church’s bookstore
- Share your knowledge of St. Bart’s and NYC with tourists and locals alike
Welcome Team
- Purpose: Live out St. Benedict’s command that “All guests who present themselves are to be welcomed as Christ” by making all visitors feel at home at St. Bart’s.
- Perfect for: Those who like to talk to strangers! In all seriousness, if you’re an outgoing person who likes to meet new people, then you should consider joining the Welcome Team.
- Potential opportunities:
- Provide a warm and welcoming presence at the church entrance and welcome table
- Greet visitors, hand out welcome bags, and assist folks in filling out Connect Cards before and after worship services
- Provide support at new member events and retreats
- Make name badges for newcomers
- Help newcomers navigate the building and assist with accessibility needs
Docents
- Purpose: Docents lead public and private tours of St. Bart’s, which was registered as a National Historic Landmark in 2016.
- Perfect for: Those with a knack for art, architecture, or community engagement.
- Potential opportunities:
- Train with a current docent
- Lead 30-45 minute tours of our church, chapel, and narthex
Digital Ministry Volunteer
- Purpose: Help online worshippers feel welcome and connected to our community
- Perfect for: Anyone who joins us for worship online on a regular basis.
- Potential opportunities:
- Train with the parish life and communications team.
- Post in the comments of St. Bart's YouTube Channel and Facebook page during online worship services.
