The Trafficking of Women and Girls

Jan 31, 2016 |

The trafficking of women and girls for sex is the fastest growing criminal enterprise in the world, yet it is an issue that remains in the shadows. Many believe sex trafficking is taking place only abroad, or falsely believe that individuals being trafficked in the cities across our country are from another country. However, the majority of individuals trafficked for sex in the US are US citizens—some as young as 12 years of age—and it’s happening right here in NYC.

Our speakers, Pamela Takiff and Catherine Budd, offered timely, critical education about sex trafficking, particularly as it occurs in the NYC area. Interim rector Bob Dannals offered perspective on Anglican involvement in interfaith efforts to end sex trafficking.
