(Part Time Lay Position)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Children’s Minister will serve as the primary teacher and facilitator for St. Bartholomew’s Sunday programming for kids in grades K through 5. In addition, the minister will assist in administration of the wider Children, Youth, and Families (CYF) program and logistics. This position will be essential in rebuilding and reimagining the ministry following significant decline during the pandemic.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach and facilitate Sunday Arts and Crafts Hour (10:00 a.m.) and Children’s Church (11:00 a.m.)
  • Plan weekly lessons in conjunction with Senior Associate Rector
  • Assist in volunteer management and training
  • Gather and order supplies
  • Provide administrative assistance with e-news, print, and electronic communications pertaining to Children, Youth, and Families
  • Coordinate seasonal special events, such as St. Nicholas Night, Holy Week Walk, End of Year Party, and Summer Creative Arts Camp
  • Other duties as assigned by Senior Associate Rector
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Grounded in faith and committed to the church
  • Sincere love for young people and their families
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with relevant experience to teaching and leading children
  • Proficient in written and oral communication with people of all ages
  • Creative, organized, and skilled at managing groups of children
  • Commitment to physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of all children
  • Commitment to honoring diversity in all its forms
  • Attentiveness to those with special needs
  • Familiarity with the Episcopal Church desirable but not required

Note that all employees of St. Bart’s are required to undergo a background check and to complete the Episcopal Church’s Safeguarding God’s Children course in abuse prevention.
