The Commissioning of the Rector Search Committee, Sunday, August 24, 2025
In August 2025, the wardens of St. Bart’s, with the approval of the vestry, appointed an 11-member rector search committee.
The committee hosted an informational town hall meeting for the parish on August 24. A recording of the meeting and a copy of the presentation may be found here.
The committee has been planning, organizing, and preparing for the parish’s first comprehensive, reflective work of “self-study” and self-assessment in 10 years. As an essential part of that, St. Bart’s parish community is being invited and asked to participate in this important work, especially by completing the Parish Survey that will be available online September 2 – October 2 and by participating in one of the Rector Search Roundtables to be scheduled for September 15 – October 5 in person at St. Bart’s and on Zoom.
The committee is beginning to gather information and input from members, clergy and lay staff, and friends of St. Bart’s. This will be combined with findings from the survey and roundtables and, together with deep discernment and contemplation about the past, present and future of St. Bart’s, all shall be incorporated into St. Bart’s Parish Profile and OTM Community Portfolio.
Our rector search will officially be open to prospective candidates once these two documents are posted on the various sites The Episcopal Church and Diocese of New York use for this purpose. These documents will tell St. Bart’s story and make a statement of who we are, what and how we aspire to be, and what we are looking for in our next rector.
The committee is also beginning to plan and organize for the search process itself.
On Sunday, August 24, Liza Page Nelson and Keith Rook, co-chairs of the Rector Search Committee, hosted a Town Hall to share details about the search process for St. Bart's fourteenth rector.
Additional FAQs will be added as we move through the process.
Please pray for the rector search committee and the vestry. Share the news that St. Bart’s is searching for a new rector with your friends and acquaintances, and encourage potential candidates to apply once the search goes live. Finally, please continue to support the church during this transition period by giving joyously and generously of your time, talent and monetary treasure.
