Uncovering Black History: Manhattan’s African Burial Ground
In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, as many as 20,000 people of African descent were buried in a cemetery located in lower Manhattan. Historical Consultant Peggy King Jorde speaks about her efforts to preserve that burial ground and the ongoing quest to uncover Black history.
