Roosevelt Island Outing

Join Scott Willick and Karen Jennemann on a tour of their new neighborhood, Roosevelt Island. We will meet at the Roosevelt Island Visitor’s Center near the Tram Landing. After an introduction by a local historian, Judith Berdy, she will lead us through the Cornell Tech Campus, Southpoint Park, FDR Hope Memorial, the eerie Smallpox Hospital, FDR Four Freedoms Park, and the Strecker Laboratory all while enjoying views of Manhattan and Queens. We will hear stories about the building of the Queensborough Bridge and the Island’s medical and correctional past, its vibrant present, and future potential. 

The tour will last 1.5 hours and is complimentary. If time permits, stay for lunch at a local reasonable restaurant and to further explore the northern “sights” of Roosevelt Island with Scott and Karen. Limited to 18 people.
