Here at St. Bart's we believe that love, peace, compassion, and justice are at the core of Jesus's teaching. The purpose of Faith in Action at St. Bart's is to participate in the Kingdom of God through advocacy, aid, and activism for the common good of all people throughout our city, nation, and the world.
As part of St. Bart’s Faith in Action initiatives, a new Migrant Welcome Committee has been formed to respond to the ongoing needs of our immigrant neighbors. Spearheaded by parishioners Christina Brandt-Young, Ally Coll, Rob McKinney, Keith Reinhard, and Lesli Tilly, the committee is mobilizing the St. Bart’s community to provide meaningful support through legal aid, advocacy, education, and material assistance.
SIGN UP FOR UPDATES AND GET INVOLVED
St. Bart's facilitates an ongoing effort to advocate for our immigrant neighbors through writing postcards to local, state and federal legislators. We make postcards available for purchase through an online store and provide all the instructions and guidance necessary for individuals, groups, and houses of worship to join with us in this sacred work. We are currently advocating for H.R. 1061/S.4555, the Protecting Sensitive Locations Act, which would ensure that houses of worship can remain sanctuary spaces. Episcopal and multifaith versions of the postcard are offered.
Join us at St. Bart’s on the first Monday of every month to serve dinner to our neighbors in need! We’ve teamed up with Coalition for the Homeless to secure a standing volunteer opportunity for St. Bart’s parishioners. Each shift can accommodate six volunteers, and the time commitment is 4:30-6:30 pm.
Our signature ministry at St. Bart's, Crossroads Community Services, located on the ground floor of the church campus, is committed to feeding the hungry in Midtown Manhattan. Our dedicated team of volunteers and staffs works each week to provide thousands of meals and food packages to those in need.
We’re proud of the 12-Step groups that dedicate themselves to healing, accountability, and community within our spaces. We acknowledge the sacred nature of this work and welcome inquiries to host meetings at our parish!
